Social media is your friend:

Share your episodes on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and any other social media platforms you’re active on.

Make sure to use relevant hashtags and tag any guests or collaborators you had on the episode. But, don’t just share the episodes, also share behind the scene, teasers, quotes, and other related content that your potential listeners will find interesting on social media.

Also, try to engage with your audience, by asking questions and encouraging discussions. Especially when you are starting with little to no audience.

Reach out to influencers in your niche:

See if they’d be willing to share your episode on their social media or even have you on as a guest on their own podcast.

You can also reach out to influencers in your niche and ask them to review your podcast, this way you can get some valuable feedback and also gain exposure from their audience.

Collaborate with other podcast hosts:

Reach out to other podcast hosts in your niche and see if you can collaborate on an episode or even do a crossover episode.

This can be a great way to expose your podcast to a new audience and also form a mutually beneficial partnership.

However, finding podcast hosts is often more challenging if you have no listeners and no social media following.

The best way to approach potential podcast hosts in this situation is to target podcasters that have less than 50 episodes. If you are comfortable with doing a solo podcast, publish at least 10 solo episodes before reaching out to potential hosts.

Avoid targeting the industry leaders when you are just starting out with no reputation.

Submit your podcast to directories:

There are many podcast directories out there like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and SoundCloud. Submitting your podcast to these directories will make it easier for listeners to find your show.

Apple Podcast is the most popular podcast listing platform. But there are other platforms, and other directories that getting listed will help you find listeners for your new podcast to increase your reach, build awareness and get more ratings and reviews.

It’s also important to note that some directories like Apple Podcasts, have a review process, so be sure to read the guidelines and submit your podcast accordingly.

Host a launch party!

Invite friends, family, and anyone else you think would be interested in your podcast. Record the party and use clips as promotional material.

This can be a great way to generate buzz and also give your audience a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of your podcast.

You can use the clips in your social media profiles which is a much better way of promoting your podcast on social media than sharing your episodes.

Create a website for your podcast.

This is a great way to give listeners more information about your show. You can use your podcast website to host any premium or bonus content you might want to share.

A website also serves as a central hub for all your podcast-related information, such as episode transcripts, show notes, and other related resources.

Utilize email marketing:

If you are just starting out you probably have 0 contacts in your email list. If that is true in your case, then building an email list should be among your first priorities.

If you have an existing email list, promoting your new podcast is going to be a lot easier.

Email your existing list of contacts and let them know about your new podcast. You can also use email marketing to keep your audience informed about new episodes, upcoming guests, and other related information.

Use paid advertising:

Of course, this depends on your podcast goals and budget, if you can invest in paid advertising it will give your podcast a jump starts to finding first new listeners.

Invest in some paid advertising on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Google Ads. This will help get your podcast in front of a wider audience fast. However, it’s important to note that paid advertising can be costly, so be sure to set a budget and track your results to ensure you’re getting a good return on investment.

Promoting a new podcast takes time and effort, but with these tips, you’ll be on your way to building a dedicated audience in no time.
